Parent & Family Support
Seeing Our Adolescents Rise (SOAR) supports adolescents and families through trauma-informed, experiential, and adventure-based programming. We partner with the community to create spaces where young people can build resilience, confidence, and life skills — while feeling seen, supported, and safe.

Background
Parent & Family Support services are designed to provide wraparound support to caregivers navigating complex life challenges such as housing instability, intergenerational trauma, and barriers to accessing behavioral health care. The Parent & Family Support Coach bridges the gap between family systems, community resources, and SOAR's youth programming by empowering caregivers to build stability, strengthen relationships, and engage actively in their youth’s care plan.
Program Goal
Program Goal: We strive to build resilience to increase the success of our youth and families. Resilience is the ability to navigate adversity, adapt to challenges, and continue growing—even in the face of hardship. We believe resilience is something that can be learned, practiced, and strengthened over time.
Program Resources

How This Service Impacts Youth & Families
SOAR’s mobile and flexible model has reduced barriers for families who previously struggled to access traditional mental health services.
Youth who were previously disengaged from school, experiencing social isolation, or facing justice involvement have shown improvements in school participation, peer relationships, and communication with caregivers.
Real-Life Growth
Youth describe gaining a stronger sense of identity, developing tools for self-expression, and building relationships rooted in trust.
Parents report feeling more supported and hopeful as they witness their child’s progress.

The well-being of parents and caregivers is a public health priority, and we must do more to protect their mental health. The Department of Health and Human Services found that:
33% of parents report high levels of stress in the past month compared to 20% of other adults.
48% of parents say that most days their stress is completely overwhelming compared to 26% among other adults.
Through this service, SOAR intends to:
Foster open dialogue about parental stress, mental health, and well-being in culturally appropriate ways.
Equip parents and caregivers with resources to address parental stressors and connect to crucial support services.
Create opportunities to cultivate supportive social connections among parents and caregivers.
